Violet ~ 18yr old QH mare ~ continued training ~
owned by Madisyn of Rockwell, IA
Meet Violet. She is a 18yr old QH mare. This girl was broke out as a 2yr old in the training program at Ellsworth College. After her training she was turned out to the broodmare band and produced one foal. Best guess is that she spent the next XX amount of years (10+ years that we know of) stall bound with very little turn out as her previous owners thought that was the best thing for her as she had to have major surgery after foaling.
Violet learned over the course of time / years several bad habits that were never corrected. She is/was pushy with her head and shoulder. She loved to pin her ears back at you when she thought things should be her way. And there was NO way you were getting close to her legs or feet with out a kick. She had to be heavily sedated for trimmings and sometimes that did always work! She also evades accepting a bit, saddle, or rider.
Violet needed direction. She needed a job and someone to lead her. Who says you can't teach an older horse new tricks! She is by NO means 100% behavior free BUT she is now more of a willing partner. Her new owners will continue with respect issues with our assistance.
Jemma (aka: Miss Lilly Edition), owned by Mariah of Rockford, IA
HH Misty Sierra aka: Ro, owned by Courtney of Waverly, IA
** SOLD ** Tale of Utopia, owned by T&B Stable
Eagle - grade paint mare, owned by Gail of Rockwell, IA
Eagle and her owner, Gail came to us to help improve basic ground manners...especially with the farrier. After a few hours with Gail and Eagle, they both now have the tools to continue on their own. Gail reported that Eagles next trimming season went wonderful! And they both are improving on their relationship of respect and trust!
** 8/20 ~ UPDATE: As of now, we will not be offering outside training for the 2015 season.
Our plans are to focus on our young up and coming stallion, Boon and our breeding program ***

Here at T&B Stable we will help your horse understand you and help you understand your horse. We encourage owner participation as much as possible. We teach the foundation of the basics from ground manners to ground work to trailer loading. Occasionally we have outside trainer's aide in the training process of a horse. We don't claim to be horse 'whispers'. We firmly believe that it takes a positive support of a community to train a horse from the owner to the trainer to the stable to the farrier. When we stop learning. . .well let's just say. . ...we might as well hang up our hats.
T&B Stable is a small family owned and operated business. When we state family. . .were not kidding. Our parents, siblings, children, cousins, aunts & uncles, nieces & nephews all help! Bless their hearts. They all have a love and passion of horses in one way or another. Whether it's grooming and bathing to icky clean-up to riding.
Each horse's training period can and/or will vary. There are so many factors: what type of training the horse needs: dependent upon the horse's ability to learn, ect. Horses are like humans. . ...we all learn at a different pace. The amount of training time a horse many need is an educated guess after meeting with the owner and their horse. We will issue a quote and is just that. . .a quote. Same applies to training fees: it varies dependent upon the type of training the owner is seeking and again is just a quote. Here's an Example: a riding re-fresher isn't going to cost the same as starting a colt/filly. Nor take as much time. So the fee is going to be different for each client.
We are not a big fancy stable (ok...wish we did have an indoor arena on the days the weather isn't so friendly). We learned to take the regular outdoors and use it to our advantage to include the everyday 'stuff' (wind, rain, birds, deer, traffic, dogs, cattle, ect) that comes our way while training out in the round pen, fields, and trail riding. T&B Stable asks for a non-refundable deposit of $125.00 (equal to 1 month of board...have implement fee due to a few bad apples) and signed contract by all parties. We charge a flat fee for boarding=$125.00 per month. Fee's are/may be combined for boarding, riding lessons, and/or training. Riding lessons have a $20 fee per hour ~ our horses or yours ~ our stable or your place. Payment plans are considered. Boarding includes shelter, hay, and water. Any misc. feed and/or supplements will need to be provided by the owner. All boarded horses must be UTD on all vaccinations and worming. Owners will be asked to provide proof.
Hurry and reserve your spot. . ...they tend to fill up fast!
Side Note: We pride ourselves on being honest people - sometimes there is and can be a situation where a horse can be dangerous and/or is not a good fit for its owner. Or vise versa... we will and have advised in the past different options to the best of our abilities, consulted outside trainers, and/or other resources that are knowledgeable for a solution. If this happens, all parties meet to mutually agree upon the best option for the situation and any monies involved.
We are insured thru Farm Bureau in Charles City, IA.
